Pictures of the Party

Yesterday we had everyone over to celebrate Bailey's first birthday. One of the best parts was getting to make cotton candy. When all of the cotton was bagged (all 60 bags) Daddy helped Sam make one of his own.It was a bit of work, but we got the kids down for naps, cake made, house clean, and decorations done just in time for the party to start. The inspiration for the party was Bailey's beloved Glo Worm. She had a cake complete with a glowing face. She of course had her own little cake to eat too. She took more time to enjoy her cake this time, but made sure to share. The weather was great, sunny and not too hot, so everyone was able to relax in the back yard.
As always, some of the most fun was had with the packaging that the presents were in.Bailey did a great job opening her presents. She took a little time to enjoy each one before moving on to the next. And she figured out how to rip the paper rather quickly. After the work, all of her friends helped her learn to work the toys.Everyone's thoughtfulness sure made this girl's day sunny!

Big Kids Eating at the Island

With some close supervision, both Bailey and Sam can now eat at the island in the kitchen! You can see that each of them have their own special plates and sippy cups.

Birthday Bailey

Today is Bailey's 1st birthday. In celebration, we had a little practice cake. Bailey quickly showed that she didn't need any practice at all!

She got off to a fast start. She dug right in for cake and wasn't distracted by the frosting. She was sure happy to have some milk to help wash all the cake down. She was good at sharing with her brother, Mom, and Dad.She sure did enjoy each bite. There were lots of "mmmm's" being said! She was definately having a good time! All that was left of a 5 inch 2 layer cake...

Some Sam Time

As always, Sam's vocabulary and understanding is growing by leaps and bounds. Yesterday he was telling me that it is "impossible to open the basement door with the thing on the handle". The thing being the baby proof knob over the handle. He saw my credit card sitting at the desk and asked me what it was. I told him a card. He said "No, it's a credit card!"

Sam also started taking swim lessons last week. He really enjoys it and he's able to spend some time with Mom or Dad alone. He's learning how to "scoop" with his hands and the goal is just to become acclimated to water. Well, he's doing quite well. On Monday he was jumping off the side of the pool into the water by himself. We were in the 4' part and he'll just run and jump. I wait for him to come to the top before grabbing him. He did it over and over. There was another mother that was watching and was surprised that he could do it by himself.

Then on Tuesday we were getting ready to get in the pool. He was undressed before me and started walking over to the pool. The earlier mentioned mother was stunned as he kept getting closer and was obviously looking to jump in before I was ready. I told her he was fine. I knew that where he was at he could stand up fine, and was close behind him. He's our little fish!

Bailey's Pictures

Yesterday we took Bailey to get her pictures taken. It was quite challenging as she did not want to hold still. She didn't want to stand when we wanted her to, and if she was sitting she would crawl away. In the middle of all of it, we got some great pictures!

Bailey's Learning to Walk

Just in time for her birthday, Bailey is starting to take lots of steps. Here is some video of her learning to push her walking toy.

Here is another one of her last week. She can take about 4-6 steps by herself, but only when she wants to! She will be standing holding to something and then just decide to start walking.

Holding only one hand, she can walk quite a ways. We were walking all over the grass at Daddy's softball game this week!
