She's At It Again...

Now Bailey is really moving. She pulled herself up to her feet twice last night. I'm afraid we're going to get better about picking up and moving fragile items, or she's going to be spending more time in the playpen.

Quote of the Day for April 20th

"Is the sun up yet?"

Said at 9:45 last night, almost an hour after Sam was supposed to be asleep.

"I slept upside down!"

We ended up flipping him around on his bed to distract him a little. He ended up reading books till he fell asleep, which we have no clue what time that was!

And a New Tooth!

Well, we have a new tooth in the family! Sam is getting a 2 year molar. I think he's already gotten the other ones, but found one poking through last week. He normally is excited about brushing his teeth, but now he just loves it. He got new toothbrushes from the Easter bunny which helps even more. Wonder when the next teeth will come in the family...?

Crawling Update

Bailey is really taking off now. She crawled half way around the house last night. She's able to follow me, so I'm sure it won't be long till she's grabbing at my ankles. Last night she crawled to me and was just about to sit up and put up her hands when Sam came over and decided that he wanted to be picked up. I told him that I needed to pick up Bailey first because she had worked so hard to get to me. So I picked her up, then offered to pick up Sam and sit on the chair with both of them. He decided then that he wanted to go play instead.

Bailey's also getting herself into trouble now. I heard her making a different noise than usual so went to investigate. I got to the living room and found her up on her knees, patting her hands on the DVD player. I said "Bailey-NO!" which caught her off guard. She got down and started crying and laying her head down on the floor. Poor thing. I loved her up afterwards of course, but am afraid it's only the beginning.

Bailey Started Crawling!!!

Bailey turned 8 months old today and started crawling!!

Working on the Easter Bunnies

Every day when Sam comes home, he makes a bee-line for his chocolate bunny. He can't wait to get his one bite before supper. Bailey decided that her brother was right, they are good! After the first bite, there was no stopping her!

The Rest of the Easter Pictures

After finding eggs and baskets, we got all dressed up to go out to breakfast and dinner. We were able to get one picture of the two of them all dressed up.Sam did so well trying to make Bailey smile while we were taking pictures.Bailey looked just beautiful and showed off her pretty smile for her Daddy.Sam was so excited about eating watermellon, he ate the whole piece...The WHOLE piece, green and all! He figured out that it doesn't taste as good as the rest of it.Then Sam got to have another Easter egg hunt.He ran all over the yard getting as many he could find. And was equally excited when he found each one! Then he showed us his skills at tee ball. He's really good at it, although we had to work on him not throwing the bat at the ball. He really smacked them. Then got an injury while "running the bases". He hits the ball and then runs down the sidewalk to the fence and back.By time we got home, he was pretty tired from a busy day. That and coming down off of his sugar high!

Easter Morning

This morning Sam let Mom and Dad sleep in. He was told last night that he could wake us up when he saw the sun in his window. Once we were all up, we went downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny had left anything. We had a hard time getting Sam downstairs. He could see that the Easter Bunny had left some eggs outside and kept looking out the windows in his and Bailey's rooms counting them. Mom and Dad were calling for him to come downstairs and he just kept saying "I see two Easter eggs."

Once he came downstairs, Sam spotted some Easter eggs right away. It didn't take him too much longer to find his Easter basket. With it was a Mickey kite and a Superman fishing pole. That bunny is good!Next, Bailey found her Easter basket by the computer. She got a tea set and some blueberry cereal puffs too!It didn't take Bailey long to figure out that she likes Peeps. She liked sucking on them and got quite upset once they got taken away.So then she moved on to the paper in her basket!Sam dug in to his quickly too, and didn't need any help figuring out how to eat the chocolate Easter bunny this year.Sam had a few eggs to find in the house before we headed outside. He would shake each one as he found it. If there was candy in it, he'd say "Not again!". Daddy asked him what was wrong with the candy ones. Sam explained that he was just kidding. After a little prodding, we were able to get Sam to put on his shoes and coat to get the eggs he saw from the windows. It was such a beautiful morning out. Sam found Easter eggs hidden all over the yard. They were in the gardens, by the pond, and in his playground too. The dogs even helped Sam find a few. Bailey sat on the porch for a little bit before getting into the action herself.Everthing that Bailey found went to the same place though. After we came back inside, Mom and Dad helped get out the Easter toys. Sam quickly figured out how to run his fishing pole. It even came with a fish that could be tied on for practice. He got lots of practice and luckily nothing got broken while he was casting.Bailey really liked her tea set. She played with it for at least 45 minutes before she was so tired she had to go back to bed.

And of course, what is Easter without blowing Peeps up in the microwave? Sam really enjoyed that part!

Hope everyone has a great Easter!

Our Fishing Trip

Today we took a family fishing trip. Sam was really excited to go try to catch some fish. We had to walk quite a way to get to the good fishing holes.

Bailey had it easy as she got to hitch a ride from Mom! Mom paid the price though as Bailey though her hair was really cool toy.It was a long walk. Some of it was on a path, but not all of it. Sam needed some help trying to walk through the brush. Sometime Daddy gave him a lift over big sticks, and once, swung him out over the stream. We stopped at quite a few holes, but never saw any good signs of fish...Along the way we got to see a lot of deer tracks. Sam got really good at pointing them out in the fresh mud. After quite a hike, we finally got to the bridge where we normally fish from. It was kind of hard for Sam to cross as it really got swinging while we crossed it.Once we got to our fishing hole, Daddy and Sam got down to business. He learned how to hook the worm and cast the line. Eventually Sam found his own "rod" and decided to go fishing by himselfHe made sure to keep the eye on the bobber for any sign of a fish nibbling. After a few different fishing holes and no signs of fish, we decided to head back. It was a beautiful day for a walk at least, and Sam made it the whole way. He even helped carry the fishing pole on the way back. After we got the car, we decided to sit down for a little snack before heading home. Sam got to sit on a big rock and eat his strawberries and chips.Bailey made sure to get hers too!

Everyone was ready for a nap by time we got home, but poor Bailey just couldn't wait!It was a fun filled morning, even if all we ended up with was a great walk!

Dying Easter Eggs

Last night we had the annual Easter egg coloring party. Sam was really impressed with the different colors. Of course, he dumped one cup of coloring right away, but did good the rest of the time.

There was an egg that had cracked, so Mom ate the egg white. Sam decided that he wanted to try the yolk, but quickly learned he didn't care for it!
Sam was really good about letting the eggs soak a while so that they got nice and dark. He was really happy when he got to pull them out and show them off!
He even tried to let his sister get in on the action! He had to try to keep her from spilling a cup herself.
Daddy taught Sam how to color on an Easter egg so that it shows up once it's colored. Then with help, Sam made one with his name on it.Bailey needed one with her name on it too. She liked when she got to see the egg come out of the cup.Daddy gave Bailey one of the finished eggs to see what she thought of it....She liked it just like everything else, in her mouth! She had blue little lips the rest of the night.
Here are our beautiful eggs!
