Mother's Day

I hope that everyone had as great a Mother's Day as I did!

The morning started off great. We explained to Sam on Saturday night that he shouldn't wake up Mommy on Mommy's Day. In the morning, he needed to wake up Daddy. I was sure that he wouldn't remember in the morning though. That and he kept joking and saying that he needed to wake up Mommy.

So in the morning, I did get to sleep in. I didn't know if the plans were to wake me up, but couldn't stay in bed any longer than 8:30. I don't know how I used to be able to sleep till 10 or 11. So I got moving and headed downstairs. Bailey and Sam were both all dressed for the day and greeted me with hugs.

Next Sam brought me the most beautiful red roses. Him and Daddy had gotten up early and went to the store and got them. Along with them, Sam brought me the presents from him and Bailey. Sam made a beautiful butterfly card and he and Bailey (with some help) made me beautiful hand painted birds. Last year he had given me a painted bird house, so I think I'm going to find some place prominent in the yard to place them.

Next I opened the most treasured item, another card from the two of them. It was so fitting! Daddy had lucked out and was able to trace both Sam and Bailey's hands on the inside. When I opened it, it played a message recorded by Sam and a cute song that we all were singing all day. We must have played it a hundred times. And every time we opened the card, Bailey got the biggest smile from listening to Sam's voice.

I also got a Cubs jersey and tee shirt. Sam picked out the shirt himself and did a great job keeping it a secret for the whole week. I was really impressed. Last night on the way home, he recounted how they had bought it when I went to play volleyball and that I had taken Daddy's truck and they took Momma's van. He remembered it all and hadn't spilled the beans! He was even proud have the gifts hidden in his closet.

Then Sam and Daddy made pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream, and Sam's favorite "shaushages", complete with chocolate milk. Bailey even got to eat pancakes with us and loved every bite! Sam didn't like it though when Daddy got crazy with the whipped cream. He wouldn't even let us get a picture of it!
Later we had KFC for dinner and had strawberry ice cream cake and carrot cake for dessert!

It was a perfect Mother's Day that will be hard to be topped! I love my special little boy, special little girl, and special Daddy!

Bailey Standing

Here's a cute picture that had us all laughing! She stole her brother's hat and thought that she was hot stuff!

Oh the things they've done...

The past two weeks have been busy, but I wanted to share all the things that Sam and Bailey have done lately.

•Sam learned to drive his Power Wheels. He's getting really good at driving it up and down the alley. We don't even have to run beside him anymore to show him how to turn in the neighbors' driveways.

•Bailey has moved onward and upward since learning to crawl-literally. She made it up two stairs the othernight before we realized that she wasn't playing with her xylophone anymore. Babygate at the bottom of the stairs is now a mainstay.

•Sam got dressed all by himself this morning. He came out, whined, and went back to his room and shut his door. A few minutes later I heard him saying "I need help with my Scooby undies." We got his legs in separate holes, and he proceed to getting his shirt, pants, and sandels on all by himself.

•Bailey is pulling herself up to her feet a lot lately. She is always standing at the coffee table in the living room.

•Sam is really enjoying getting to go outside now. He's covered with scrapes, bruses, and bumps, but refuses to slow down one bit.

•Bailey is starting to eat table food. We put it through the food grater, but it's one more step towards not having to buy baby food anymore. This weekend she had ham and sweet potatoes and mashed bananas!
